Following on from the plans for a New Elementary School in Daybreak, we now have details about a new charter middle/high school.
The American Academy of Innovation will be a charter school for grades 7 through 12. The school has been approved by the Utah State Board of Education, received a letter of support from the Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) for its “potential to help prepare some of our next generation to think globally and help Utah continues to be recognized as a premier global business destination as they move forward in their careers.”.
The school will be located in Creekside Village at 5410 W. South Jordan Parkway. The construction for the school is currently underway and is due to open to students next fall. The school will initially cater for 360 students, 60 per grade from 6th through 11th.
The goal of the school is to “offer a unique blend of academic programming using experiential learning combined with technical education, 21st-century skills, and international partnerships. This school seeks to improve student learning by identifying the specific learning style of individual students, using the methods best suited to the students’ individual strengths to teach each concept, and building ownership of education in each student.”
AAI will be hosting public meetings for prospective students and parents. The Open Houses will be held at the Daybreak Community Center, on Thursday, February 11th, Wednesday, March 16th and Wednesday, April 13th, at 7:00 pm.
